Bikini Waxing

Thinking about making your first-ever appointment for a bikini line wax and not sure what to expect. Here are a few things to know before you book your appointment.

What exactly is a Bikini Wax?

Bikini wax removes unwanted hair around the panty line. How much hair gets removed is up to you. Some prefer a more classic bikini wax - hair is removed outside the panty line and about 1 finger length inside the panty line. You could also choose to have more hair removed and leave just a strip or a shape (inside the panty line). Bikini wax can give you great results, and you can strut with confidence in your bikini!

Brazilian wax is different from Bikini wax in that it is more extensive with where hair is removed.

What to expect during a Bikini wax?

Bikini waxing, just like Brazilians, is done with speed, which is why you might not want to DIY this wax. Rather let the professional waxers, like us at Copper & Sphynx, do it for you. Speed waxing helps reduce discomfort and pain that may be associated with waxing. The goal is to make your experience as comfortable as possible and leave you with smooth, amazing, hairless skin.

During the appointment, your esthetician applies the wax and removes the unwanted hair. Voila.

Preparation

There are a few things to know before you book your appointment to get the best results.

  1. Don’t shave the hair before your appointment. The hair should be 1/4 - 1/2 inches long for the wax to be able to pull the hair (out of the root).

  2. Exfoliate. You can exfoliate the area before the appointment, but allow at least 24-48 hours between the exfoliation and your appointment.

  3. If you are concerned about pain or discomfort, you could take ibuprofen about 30 minutes before your appointment.

  4. Wear loose clothing to the appointment. Tight clothes can irritate the waxed skin.

Aftercare

After your bikini wax, your skin can be red, irritated, and sensitive.

Avoid showing with hot water right after waxing, as it could feel uncomfortable on sensitive skin.

Use gentle products and moisturizers to reduce irritation.

How long does the bikini wax last?

The short answer is it depends on how fast your hair grows. Typically the results last 3-4 weeks. We always recommend booking your bikini wax appointment with a salon that specializes in waxing for the best results. The more experienced your esthetician is, the smoother your experience will be - all the way around.
